Bonapartism
In the second semester, we learned a lot about history and revolutions. The French Revolution of 1789 and the Egyptian Revolution of 2011 were our main focus points. With those topics, we learned about kings, guillotines, protests and dictators. We first learned about the French Revolution and it's four different stages; the old regime, the rule of the moderates, the terror, and the thermidorian reaction. After we learned about the patterns of the French Revolution, we moved on to the Egyptian Revolution. To learn about the Egyptian Revolution, we made timelines showing all the important events that happened during the Egyptian Revolution. On the timeline, we had to decide the stages the Egyptian Revolution had ourselves. By doing so, we got to compare both revolutions with each other and see if any similar events happened. The main concept we used to compare both revolutions was bonapartism. It refers to the historical tendency of of a dictator to emerge at the end of a democratic revolution and use the ideals of the revolution as a way of masking his own power. To exhibit what we learned, we made monologues that were based off the point of views of the people in the revolutions.

Our final outcome for this project is a documentary of our monologue series that is about 40 minutes long. The documentary contains our monologues and narration to help the audience understand the background information of the monologues. You can watch the monologues by clicking the button below.

Along with the monologues that we wrote and filmed, we also made a book that contains those monologues. If you wish to buy this book, please click the button below.
